Business Development Specialist – Specialty Polymers

Remote (U.S.) | Travel 40–60%

Most people in plastics have never sold this material.

We’re working with a global specialty materials company that is expanding its footprint in life sciences and is looking for a true business developer to help drive adoption of a high-performance polymer used in medical, pharmaceutical, and advanced applications.

This is not a “manage existing accounts” role.

This is for someone who knows how to open doors, create demand, and win new business in technical environments.

What You’ll Be Doing

▪️ Build and develop new business across life sciences, medical, and related markets

▪️ Sell a specialty polymer Cyclo Olefin Polymer (COP) that requires education and positioning, not just pricing

▪️ Work directly with engineers, scientists, and technical teams to drive material adoption

▪️ Identify, develop, and convert new opportunities into long-term revenue

▪️ Manage and grow a pipeline across short, mid, and long-term opportunities

▪️ Collaborate with internal teams to align technical capabilities with customer needs

What Makes This Role Different

▪️ You’re not selling a commodity

▪️ Many customers won’t know this material exists

▪️ You’ll need to:

▪️ Sell the material category first

▪️ Then the value proposition

▪️ Then the right solution for the application

What They’re Looking For

▪️ 7–12+ years in business development or technical sales

▪️ Experience in plastics, polymers, or related materials (a must)

▪️ Background selling into life sciences, medical, pharma, or technical markets (strongly preferred)

▪️ Proven ability to generate new business and open doors

▪️ Comfortable selling into engineers, scientists, and technical stakeholders

▪️ Strong sales discipline (pipeline management, CRM usage, follow-up)

▪️ Ability to adapt messaging based on the customer and application

What Success Looks Like

▪️ Consistent year-over-year revenue growth (target 15%+)

▪️ Building a strong pipeline of new opportunities

▪️ Expanding adoption of the material into new applications

▪️ Winning specifications with OEMs and key decision makers

Compensation & Structure

▪️ Competitive base salary + bonus

▪️ Remote role (must be near a major airport)

▪️ Travel: 40–60%
